Hosting the Credit Unions Forum Podcast

A lot of my energy lately goes into the Credit Unions Forum Podcast, where I sit down with leaders across the movement to talk through the questions our industry is actually wrestling with. Recent conversations have ranged from business lending with John Skeldon of CBS CUSO, to keeping small credit unions simple and strong with Doug Wadsworth, to developing the next generation of leaders with Janice Shisler and Jane Fontaine.

Helping boards prepare for the retirement wave

The retirement wave in credit unions is real, and boards are feeling it. With a large group of long-tenured CEOs and senior executives heading toward retirement, I keep coming back to one question: who is next? Right now I'm focused on succession planning and leadership development, so the institutions I care about have a strong bench ready before the silver tsunami arrives.

Finding growth for small credit unions

Can small credit unions survive, and thrive, in an era of consolidation? I believe they can. A lot of my recent work looks at where sustainable growth actually comes from, from the opportunity in commercial and SBA business lending to the case that simplicity itself can be a superpower for a smaller institution.

On leadership and the long game

Outside the day-to-day, I write and speak about leadership, including my chapter in Unleash The Leader Within You, and I coach leaders on building clarity, confidence, and impact. My approach traces back to the Marine Corps idea that Together Everyone Achieves More, and that teamwork philosophy still guides how I lead at UTFCU.
